KRISIA ESTES

Building a Healthy Future

My name is Krisia Estes, and my work explores the profound ways in which our surroundings shape our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Rooted in the fields of Neuroaesthetics, Psychology, and Interior Design, my research and approach seek to bridge the gap between scientific insight and spatial experience. I am particularly interested in how architecture influences cognitive function, sensory processing, and emotional well-being, whether through the rhythm of movement within a space, the interplay of light and texture, or the subconscious cues that guide perception and decision-making.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, where I studied Interior Design, Psychology, and Cognitive Science, followed by a Master’s degree in the Psychology of the Arts, Neuroaesthetics, and Creativity from Goldsmiths, University of London. My interdisciplinary background allows me to analyze design through both an artistic and empirical lens, translating research findings into real-world applications that make spaces more intuitive, inclusive, and responsive to human needs.

As we continue to uncover the cognitive and psychological effects of our environments, it becomes clear that design is not just an aesthetic practice. It is a form of storytelling, a means of communication, and a tool for shaping experience. Through this platform, I aim to question, explore, and push the boundaries of what we know about how space affects us, inviting others to rethink the role of design in everyday life.
