Friction & Flow

Embodied Cognition & Spatial Behavior Study

This study explores how subtle design shifts (light, texture, layout) reshape behavior within the same architectural frame.
In the first variation, long sightlines and tonal continuity encourage movement and orientation.

The second introduces stepped thresholds and spatial friction, prompting heightened awareness and slower pacing. The third compresses space and softens edges, inviting stillness and introspection.

Grounded in embodied cognition, the study reveals how design quietly directs behavior. These corridors may look alike, but they feel, and function, entirely differently.
